About CLP!

Cranberry Learns Piano began in 2013 when a family friend wanted piano lessons for four of their six children.  We agreed that having lessons in their home would be easier for all of the kids, involved and not; entertaining six children for two hours in someone else's home would be quite a challenge.  As we gained more students, the concept of in home teaching was preferred and has turned into our primary location for teaching.  Teaching in student's homes is wonderful as we get to know all of your family but primarily we have found that students are more comfortable in their home playing on their piano.  Over the years we have added lessons at Dutilh United Methodist Church as some families prefer an offsite location.  CLP is happy to teach your student in whichever location is best for your family and fits your schedule.

I am currently offering piano lessons to anyone, ages 6 and older in Cranberry Township, Mars, and Zelienople.  We will focus on the fundamentals to start; reading the staff, reading rhythms, knowing the piano, getting your fingers moving.  As familiarity is gained with the basics needed to play, it's necessary to involve the ears.  Ear training is an important part of playing any music instrument, it helps the performer identify rhythms, melodies and harmonies with ease just by listening.  As our playing and listening skills develop we add the characteristics that turn students into musicians; dynamics, articulations and expression. Once students understand the fundamentals of playing piano, music theory will enter the picture.  Music theory is the "why it was written that way", these rules and concepts have been around for centuries, some of the rules are simple while others take some time to understand.

It can be overwhelming thinking about all of the things you need to learn to play piano, but you learn so much just playing the piano and it is a truly rewarding skill.  No matter your age its not too late to learn the piano, with practice and determination everyone can play the piano.

We are currently unable to accept new PIANO students at this time.  If you sign-up you will added to our waiting list and you will be contacted you when an opening is available.
