Maureen Konopka

I began playing piano at the age of 6 after falling in love with the music I heard growing up in church.  As I continued to learn the piano I decided that wanted to learn other instruments so I could be involved in groups with other musicians, so I learned the clarinet, saxophone, steel drums, guitar, bass guitar, and trombone just to name a few.

With an obvious love for music, I attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania School of Music and studied Music Education with a focus in piano under the tutelage of Dr. James Staples.  I was a member of many of the musical groups at I.U.P. and became a sought out accompanist for soloists and ensembles.  In 2007, I graduated from I.U.P. with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and was offered a teaching job in Dorchester County Maryland teaching High School Chorus and Group Piano Instruction.  There I spent the next 6 years working in Dorchester County teaching music to High School and Middle School students and accompanying the Eastern Shore Choral Directors Association's Senior All Shore Chorus.

In 2013, my family and I relocated from Maryland back to my home of Pittsburgh and I began Cranberry Learns Piano as well as working at the School of Rock in Wexford.  As much as I loved teaching kids to rock, I left the School of Rock in 2015 to serve the Wexford Community Presbyterian Church where I served as Music Director until end of 2017.  In 2018, I became the Director of Music Ministries at Dutilh United Methodist Church in Cranberry TWP where I share my love for music weekly with the community where I live.

In 2023 I completed my Masters Degree in Education, Training, and Instructional Design and use my skills to create tailored lessons to the needs of each individual student no matter their age or skill level.

I have always known that I wanted to play and teach music; it is truly an honor to be able to share my talents when I plays, but finds it an absolute privilege to teach other's the beauty of music especially through the piano.
